LGA1156 version of X7SBL-LN(1 or 2)

I'm looking for the same type of board for LGA1156 that the X7SBL-LN1/2 was for LGA775.. any suggestions?

SuperMicro only.. onboard KVM not necessary.

Looking for it to support i7 860 / i5 750.. and possibly X3400 series xeons.

I guess a LGA1366 version also would work, being that i7 920's are <200USD for me now..

I guess the X8STI would be the LGA1366 one. But what about 1156? I love the X8SIL-F but was wondering if there was any other options. I had a bad experience with i5's and the X8SIL-F.

What kind of problem? I haven't seen any issues with ours.

for around $150, X8SIL will be your best choice. we've installed over 100 of these and saw very little issues other than the 1st version would not work with supermicro 560-watt PSU inside 2U SC825 chassis. thus far, we've seen just one defective board out of 100+, and that can be called a very reliable board.

Asus/Tyan/Intel do make socket 1156 server boards, but they all priced much higher than X8SIL/X8SIL-F.

mind you that i7-920 is rated 130watt TDP which is not very 1U friendly even with super-duper passive ccoling, let along the high power draw.

What about Supermicro X8SIE?

Only thing it I5's arn't supported on their spec sheet, yet they take I3s and X34xx Xeons

http://www.supermicro.com/xeon_3400/...IPMI=N&TYP=LN2

We have a couple of those with Xeon X3460s and no problems at all

X8SIE costs ~$20 more than X8SIL because it comes with 6x DIMM slots which are not very useful unless you want to load it with 6pcs dual-rank 128x8 4G ECC registered modules which are basically not in existence.

also, X8SIE can't be installed in SC510/SC502/SC503 chassis which require micro ATX board.

I put a (now appearingly defective i5) in it and it didn't post (albeit ECC RAM), but also did not post when there was no RAM. I got an asus desktop board and still didn't post with proper non-ecc ram, so I just RMA'd it.
