Is there any script or software that can restart httpd,mysql,exim or named if

• The server load goes beyond a certain limit
• These services go offline

To be specific on condition 1, I am looking for a script/software that can take mysql down for some seconds until the server load becomes low.

Beat me to it! We used to use this but we've moved to an in house system to do local server monitoring. It did the job at the time though and was very simple to setup. Although I don't think it'll stop the services but it'll restart failed and email on high load and such.
