Talking London Boy, 7, Raises £130,000 for Haiti Cause - Amazing!

A seven-year-old west London boy has now raised more than £130,000 for Haiti quake victims in a sponsored bike ride.

Charlie Simpson, from Fulham, had hoped to raise £500 by cycling five miles (8km) around South Park on Sunday for Unicef's relief efforts in Haiti.

A day after his five-mile ride Charlie said: "My legs are a bit sore after the ride, but it was really fun."

His effort led to donations pouring in on the JustGiving website from as far away as New Zealand and Hong Kong.

Charlie, who went back to school earlier, is still unaware of how much he has raised but Unicef said he will be told when he visits its office later.

Charlie's father Dan Simpson said: "We cannot believe the incredible response from the UK public.

Wow that is just incredible. Very impressive to see a 7 year old child ride a bike that long.

I don't know if it is just times that are changing, but I don't remember all this effort back when the tsunami hit in 2004.

I mean obviously there was a lot of support, but nowhere near the amount for this earthquake, such as the celebrity phone center, charity music single and popularity with other celebrities. Strange.

From speaking to people who've been to both events, they've said that the earthquake has been much worse.

There was a large amount of cash raised for the tsunami as well though, maybe not the same amount.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking what people did to aid the people in 2004, it just seems that celebrities and the rich people are doing more for Haiti, whereas in 2004, it was just the charities and public from around the world coming and helping, whereas with this disaster, governments seem to be getting involved etc.
