I feel like..

Kicking the crap out of FedEX right now. My server, which I shipped through FedEX arrived at the datacenter last night. Turns out the dang thing wont turn on. It was working fine before shipping.

Any idea on what the issue could be?. The main fans turn on, the CPU fan does not spin and there is no DVI/VGA signal. I would tell you more but I don't know much else myself.

I seriously have no idea why this would happen from shipping. Has anyone had any experience in this area?. Any idea at all?. I can think of the weight of the heatsink might have caused the CPU to be pulled slightly out, or CMOS battery died. But CMOS was cleared earlier today with no results.

The PSU is new, so that can't be it. The power connectors are apparently in good... so.. any idea what this is, and how to fix this?. The datacenter is a long way away from me so I cannot just go down there...

Thanks for your help.

The case went into the original retail box with two styrofoam holders to keep it in place. That retail box then was wrapped in 2-3 inches of bubble wrap with paper filler to keep it in place inside the larger box. So, double boxed.

Reminds me of my computer. The motherboard blew out, all though Fedex wasn't an issue heh. I'm just having it repaired now. Sending back all the parts and etc.

Did you have insurance with Fedex? UPS is 10x worse then Fedex in my experience. Maybe you just got caught on an unlucky day.

I don't know if i blame fedex so much, that's alot of protection.

Have them check that the ram hasn't unseated.

I did have them check. They re-seated the ram just to confirm.

Honestly, the reason I'm posting here is because its taking 7-8 hours per ticket reply at the datacenter. That's fine since I understand they are pretty busy right now, but it doesn't stop my frusteration on this issue.

My other thought is that something is touching the motherboard and shorting it.. but I haven't received a official response on this from the datacenter yet (I asked them to try lifting the motherboard a bit, no response).

TBH I think its just a connection that is slightly unplugged, but they say everything is in solid =/.

So yeah, hopefully the motherboard isn't blown...

That sucks dude. I know the feeling. I felt the same just when my IPOD which was "brand new" came faulty in and when checking the surveillance camera the UPS guy (not fedex) but still two of the biggest shipping companies. The guy just sorta "threw it and made it slide" to the front of the door.

Yes that got me heated and yes I made a call. Ever since now all my packages arrive safely in front of the door either with a ring or near the door.

Is hard to prove though if Fedex did drop your package and judging from experience I can see this is something that usually happens to others with their packages (reading angry comments about others with theirs).

I hope you get your things sorted out though.

Maybe next time it's a good idea to buy the insurance when FedExing your servers? I don't think a server/computer can be damaged that easily though.

I shipped a PC when moving from the US to Canada and just put it in a suitcase where it is thrown here and there (no fragile sticker or anything).

I even put my LCD screen inside it, it's working just fine on arrival.

I hope you can get it turn on soon!

Thank you very much for ignoring me . I just pointed out what might be the potential issue, and your sprouting out that it is FedEX at fault...
