    * Got married Saturday and got a new puppy yesterday :)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xi08wTM5gI

She's a Pembroke Welsh Corgi - very cute - she seems to really have taken a liking to this blue toy my wife got her today

Just thought it was cute so I wanted to post it up.

The puppy isn't even 8 weeks old and she's already going to the door and whining to go out - running out to the grass past the patio next to the fence and going to the bathroom and coming back in - very impressive I think

We've lived together since the day we got together (she was actually a room-mate for about 3 months or so prior) so it's not much of a change for me other than calling her "Wife" instead of "Fiancee" or "Girlfriend"

We've shared money and bank accounts etc... for about the last 8 months already lol.

It's pretty simple if you get them when they are young - as soon as they wake up they will have to go to the bathroom so you take them outside immediately as soon as they stand up and then once they go in the right place you praise them and maybe give them a puppy-safe treat.

That's all we've been doing and it's working out great as she goes to the door and whines now to go outside and then goes and does her business and comes back in. We do have a small fenced in patio surrounded by grass and we even trained her well enough that she goes to the grass near the fence and doesn't go on the concrete

The big thing to keep in mind is that you only want positive reinforcement (i.e. praise + treat when they do good, never scolding, hitting, or rubbing their nose in it).

If they do have an in-house accident just grab them as quick as you can and take them outside until they finish if you see it happening or if you come in after-the fact just clean it up and use some pet-odor eliminating spray afterward. Puppies won't understand what's going on if you scold them for it and eventually they'll just associate going to the bathroom with being yelled at and as such will run to another room or out of sight to do it.

I grew up with dogs, up to 5 siberian huskies at one time so I have a pretty good knowledge of how to house-train and train in general a dog

Haha, I want to run a forum that is a good source of information to corgi owners as well as prospective corgi owners

Something short and to the point - I found the perfect domain and I've back-ordered it... Here's hoping I get it

Beyond that, the puppy just found her bark I think
