Anyone uses steam?
Does it crash quite often and is it a good way to buy & install games? Its really slow on my connection when downloading 4 games or more at once. It has the same interface for years as well and the different skins are not very appealing. Its ok in my opinion but its not a walk in the park to use imo.

Hi,
I used to use steam before. To be honest, it all depends on what the specs of your computer/connection are.
Back in my gaming days when i downloaded more than 2 games, it would be pretty slow and laggy.
I would suggest downloading games overnight, something i did.
Good Luck!

I use steam and it doesn't crash for me. I usually download one game at a time for connection reasons, but it's a good way to install games and it doesn't have the DRM crap so it's good on your PC too.
Nothing here right now.

I just installed steam a few weeks ago and re-downloaded all my games at once without issues. So your computer may need some TLC.

I must have a half dozen of these now for various things.

Bought one for my brother and he stuck a GTX 285 in it, it screams for its age. Naturally its solid as a rock due to being a workstation class system.
I threw windows 7 on mine at the office and it also screams.

Never had any issues with Steam and it usually maxes out my connection on game downloads.

Last I checked, all Steam games were DRM free since the May 24th, 2009 update.
Edit; still the one-serial-per-game thing though, I believe, you can install Steam and play your games on any machine, but two people can't play the same game at once, though.

On a more related note; I use to play/use Steam, back when my desktop was in working order. I miss TF2.KnownHost Managed VPS Specialists

I've used Steam for years, the weekend and now week-day sales are responsible for numerous transactions on my bank statement every month!
I think it's a great thing, the more games on it the better. I've bought a number of games I already own when they were at silly prices in their deals for the sheer ease of use through Steam.
Maybe every few months it bugs out with a new steam update and I need to restart it a couple of times, apart from that, never really had any issues.Alasdair
