noob with ?...built a website on WIX and

don't know what to do next. I need to obtain a domain and host, but know nothing about how or with whom? Can I bring the WIX flash site over to a host or do I have to use WIX? It's a Bass (fishing) club for our state. Need suggestions or help. Not good with acronyms so please spell out what your suggestion would be.

Yes, you can use WIX to create your website and put it in a hosting service. If you make your site with wix, then any hosting service will intentionally help you to inform how to get this hosted using their host. Your target should be now making the site and finding a proper host

mellow...thanks for the reply
I already made up my website with wix, and I think it looks pretty good myself. I just don't know how to bring it over to a host or know which is best host for low cost and easy to use. How do I bring it over to a host? Can the host provide me with a domain?

What do yall think of Wix? Is it a good builder that will transfer well with any host?

Have you thought about using some sort of website content management system like Wordpres or Joomla.
With these you can create a site with ease, I guess thats why you choose Wix.
Any 'decent' hosting company will help you in setting all this, a domain name, and hosting.

Try contacting a host your confident will provide everyhting you need and contact the sales department.

Most of the hosting company these days do provide domain name as well. And you should have enough explanation in the welcome email after order in regard how to host the files. You can ask for support as well to help you in these small cases. Most of the hosts would be legitimately supporting in these cases.

There is no best host in general; but there should be a host that is best for your needs. I would suggest not to go for too cheaper solutions. Actually what is the budget in your mind. A self research is the best method to find your host. You can ask feed backs here on some short listed hosts which suits your budget and needs. You will get first hand experience comments here.
Also for domain registration you can choose specialised domain registrars. Most hosts also provide domain registration services but make sure that domain is registered under your name.

It's probably best you go get your domain from a well known, reputable registrar, even if the hosting company offers a free domain while you host with them. ~$10 a year is a small sum of money to pay for peace of mind. It has happened that a host went down/became unresponsive/got bought, and customers ended up having to fight to get control over their domains.

I suppose in 99% of cases web host will be able to provide domain name for you. Be aware most of the web hosting providers are domain name resellers and you will need to have separate accounts for the domain names and for the web hosting
I'm seeing people prefer use different companies for domain name registrartion and web hosting. Maybe you need to forllow their example?

For example, purchase my domain from...Whois, or Namecheap, and then get maybe HostGator or ipower to host?
A HostGator fella replied to my post in regards to Wix website. He didn't see where it could be brought over for them to host. Wix says that their websites can only be hosted thru them. I know it can be brought over somehow because someone at my office built a photography website with Wix, and her sister brought it over to be hosted by ipower. I don't know how to do that...guess I will try and get the instructions from her. Yall might know that answer. Thanks for yalls help.

BTW, where are yall from...I see post times 3-4 hours before mine and it's 9am here in Louisiana. I never checked to see where this site originates...

I thought you could only host your site with wix once you've built it? I didn't realise you could actually transfer it to another host.

More info...talked with my co-worker who designed her website
with Wix. She told me yesterday that her sister transferred it to ipower. After many questions, she finally realized what I was asking her...she says Wix hosts her site. She was confused with the domain in that she paid ipower for her domain and her sister had it transferred to Wix. She pays the unlimited below for her website hosting. Sorry yall. I thought different too.
