I've been looking for many sigs here and ads and 99% have a their website hosting offering shared hosting, reseller plans, vps and some dedicated. Why everyone is offering these, is having just shared hosting plans a shame?
I'm looking to launch my website with only shared hosting plan and I hardly can sell reseller, VPS, DEdicated with the reseller plan I've subscribe. My target is only end users in general public and not hosting geeks.
Is my business going to work with a good business plan or will fail because not offering reseller, vps, dedicated is a mistake.

Bottom line is everyone wants to get away from shared. If you are still doing shared hosting after 5 years then there is something very wrong. The worst clients, the most demanding support and the lowest ROI. Good place to start but not a place to end up.

This is very true. Offering shared hosting comes as a benefit to lower end users once you have other forms of income coming in. For example, a web designer might be asked if he offers hosting for the designs he created. In order to facilitate this request he may opt for a reseller account to handle all of those issues in one place.

There's no reason you cannot succeed offering shared plans. The largest percentage of web sites are on a shared plan so if you put in the effort you can be successful.

Some of our clients are great, some are obnoxious and uneducated when it comes to hosting. But then again it's not all bad, that's why they pay, because they need somebody to handle these things for them.

That being said, the shift to VPS and Dedicated is where we're headed.
