Deadliest City in Mexico
From a news article online:
Quote:
CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico (AP) - "Not one person murdered yesterday," Ciudad Juarez's leading newspaper proclaimed in a banner headline. It was big news in this border city, ground zero in the drug war - the first time in 10 months that a day had passed without a killing.
But by the end of that day, Oct. 30, nine more people were riddled with bullets.
Violent death is a part of life in Ciudad Juarez, a seedy, dust-cloaked metropolis on the banks of the Rio Grande. Bloodied bodies hang from overpasses, and children walking to school stumble across hit men filling targets with lead.
[...]
On a recent afternoon, at one of the city's busiest intersections, four police officers from the state capital of Chihuahua City stopped for gas before heading to testify against Sinaloa Cartel members.
Hit men pulled up and fired nearly 100 rounds. Bullets ricocheted off the front of a convenience store across the street as some bystanders cried. An attendant at the gas station was killed, along with two of the officers.
A pair of students in school uniforms walked over to get a better view of the bodies lying next to the gas pumps.
"I've seen bodies near my house, on the way to school, outside my work," said Jose Luis Chavez, 17. "It's no longer weird to see dead people."

Profoundly scary, eh? :-/

Same.
Someone needs to intervene, whether it be the US, or another country.

I used to be in Juarez all the time in the early 90's. We call one thing, but it's actually pronnounced "wa-dez", or thats as close as I can think of putting it in text. The problem is our laws protect them. We have to catch "every" gang member, prove them in a long drawn out court system, then send them to prisons where they raom free and control the prisoons.
We need to take over Mexico with our military and forget Iraq. The crap in mexico is far more of a threat than Iraq. We should start capturing gang members in Mexico and dropping them off in Iraq instead of our legal system, each with 100 bullets.

I just got the goose bumps reading that article! That's crazy that a 17yr old can say "It's no longer weird to see dead people."

The two gangs went to war over routes. The crime didnt rise until the government sent in troops. Now the gangs have resorted to burglary, robbery, car jackings, etc, to make money since they cant get drugs thru.
They need to wipe out these gangs with deadly force, starting with their bases of operations. You cant run such large organized crime operations without a few permanent locations, and you can bet your butt the government knows where they are. Then bring in tons of snipers and cleanup crews. Headshot gang members on sight and have the cleanup crews remove the bodies. When crime is this bad, thats the only true way to deal with it because obviously the laws and courts cant. Do martial law or whatever you have to.

That's not something anyone should have to endure...EVER! Specially not a 17yr old! I don't know where your from, but here in Dallas, Texas seeing a dead person on the side of the road is something never seen and should never be seen...
