Server 2008 R2 / SSD / VHD / TRIM

Got some question regarding running server 2008 r2 from an ssd.
If I make a virtual machine and run it as a .vhd will the os inside the vhd use trim on the host ssd?

Or since the whole vhd is a single xxGB file, it's not really deleting anything off the host ssd disk, just rewriting.
