How to change admin/group permissions ??

I run a blog and it has 755 chmod permissions but it has 513 as admin/group permissions, because of this my chmod permissions are just like a demo its useless, I am unable to write or edit any files from the admin panel.

How can I change the admin/group permission for the blog folder ??

Run the following command as root.
    Code:
    chmod 755 /path/to/folder

If you want to set the recursive permission/ownership for the folder this will change all the permission/ownership of all files and directories within that folder.

    # chmod 755 foldername -R
    and
    # chown user:groupuser foldername -R

You can also use a FTP client like FileZilla to change your permissions if you do not have shell access.

To do this in Filezilla, right click the directory or file name and select File Permissions.

Please use secure permissions on your files . You can set 755 for your folders and 644 for your files. Please use the following command

    Code:
     chmod 755 folder_name
    chmod 644 file_name
To change the ownerships , then do the follwing
    Code:
     chown username:groupname foldername/filename
Also read the default manual from your server by using the command man
    Code:
     man chmod
    man chown
