    Any firearm enthusiasts?

So my wife and I went out and picked up one of these:

    My CHL Qualification:

    My Wife's CHL Qualification:
    (Image)

I'm going to go buy these also:
    (Image)

    - Springfield XD 9mm Subcompact
    - Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm Subcompact

On a side note, that was only my wife's second time firing a gun at all. And the first time was the day before just shooting three bullets. It was my fourth time shooting any gun. My first was like eight years ago, a little .22 rifle. Then about three years ago a Ruger .45 pistol. Now the Taurus 9mm the day before the qualification. Which got fun toward the end and we got to pop off some additional rounds for fun. Also where I got to fire the Springfield XD and S&W 9mm subcompacts.

It was great fun, and we both learned a bunch of shooting and safety tips.

Nice! I shot a gun for the first time when I was 9 or so. My dad and grandfather used to take me hunting with them. I think my favorite is one of my grandfather's old push rod shot guns. They have a hell of a kick back but I really enjoy shooting it. Although I do like bow and arrow too

I got to fire a compound bow in high school, that was fun. Learning hurt my arm, got hit a few times on release, snapped at my arm because I had it bent inward. lol

Not too bad... I've got a guy that I go shooting with that pretty much rips out center mass each and every time. I notice your wife has quite a few shots to the groin, that would worry me!

Here's my latest toy. Chambered in the .357 - a beast! It's been a while since I've bought any new toys.

I used to do a lot of shooting, not anymore though.

Used to fire a Parker Hale M82 and the SA80 L85A1 for a shooting team a couple of years ago

You are your wife are pretty accurate -- congratulations.

As you shop, consider weapons such as the HK USP Compact.

Good luck, and by the way, kudos on your 1000th WHT post!

I carry a Glock 26 and sometimes an FN 57.

In the Datacenter it's a mix of M&P 9C's and Glock 26s. We load with 115g HPs to achieve minimum penetration so we don't damage any servers when we need to fire on an intruder.

Our new hobby is heading out to the range and blasting $40 worth of ammo on the weekends. Instead of blasting $40 worth of cash on crappy movies that keep coming out.

H&K seems a bit overrated though, you have one?

Also I can't get enough WHT!

Another guy in the other lane was firing off a .45 Springfield XD. You could feel that one all over your body, in chest, brains, heart. IT HAS A KICK TO IT!

Buy me some ammo and we'll call it even.

Movie tickets are $9.50 per person x two people + snacks @ $10 if you want snacks. So you eat up $30 bucks to see a crappy movie. Three boxes of ammo and a few targets later and bam! It's all good

I've got an assortment of weapons. I'm just thankful I never have to use them, unless I go to the range.

You are aware there has been a severe ammo shortage in the past 6 or 8 months? I purchased a Five-seveN just a few days before the Fort Hood thing, thinking "har har, unpopular ammunition, always in stock, more for me..." I'm sure its going to be hard to find 5.7x28 now. Some ammunition manufacturers even added a 4th shift to try to keep up with the demand.

Hmm, what kind of firearm do you have buried? :curious:

I've seen no shortage with 9mm ammo. That and there are tons of guns shops around, you are bound to find something stocked away. But with the FN, that seems to be less common ammo. I've been told that .45 ammo is in lesser supply though, but I have easy access to that still.

What a perfect thread. I just found out I have a very decent shooting range about 2 blocks from my house. I went in there Saturday and fired off a box of .45 from a XD. I used to have a the Springfield XD .40, the .45 is actually substantially more mind rattling. lol.

I am currently trying to decide between an affordable ~$500 .40 such as Taurus' 24/7's, possibly another Springfield (heh if I can get it for like $20... I just think it was trash),....or......

the almighty, HK USP. (Which is an additional $500).

I just love the USP. Everything about it is quick, sleek, and sexy.
Like I said, I just found this range by my house... Any opinions on the range pricing? http://www.bullettrapinc.com/

About $8 for the lane, $10 for a rental, +Ammo.

Must be nice living somewhere that doesn't allow its citizens to properly defend themselves.

Make sure you let the intruders know you'll need 10 minutes notice so that you can get your illegal firearm out.

I'm sure that will work out perfectly.

As for me I carry a glock 30 and it's always ready to fire with a round in the chamber just like every concealed carry gun and house gun should be.

Depending on what I'm wearing I'll sometimes carry my S&W 340pd as a back-up on my ankle.

Unless you're living in a humanless world there's always the need to have protection.

You may be in a "safer" area compared to some but anywhere can be dangerous it only takes one single instance for your entire life to change or quite possibly end.

I can defend myself without a weapon. In a country where very few people have guns (incl the police) we have no need for weapons of that type.

It's been shown that countries with legalised guns don't have lower crime rates.

I wish I had a weapon, but in as for us in Lithuania - soon even gas pistols will be [almost] banned.
One would have to pass a health test, to get a document from police that he/she does not belong to gangs or that has no criminal future. I am not sure, but it seems one would be forced to keep a gas pistol in safe.
In other words, we'll be left pretty defenseless against criminals. And the criminals won't disarm.
I wish I lived in the USA

Picture this, you are in a restaurant quietly and happily eating dinner with a loved one. Some crazed lunatic comes in with an illegally obtained firearm and begins blasting people away. The criminal will have a firearm because he/she does not give a S*** about any laws that restrict firearm purchases. That only hurts people that obey the laws.

    A lot of people die!

Picture the same situation, only this time give a group of law abiding citizens firearms and see what happens then.

Fewer or no people die, or are just injured.

It's the same idea as a fire extinguisher, you might as well throw those out as well right? You don't really need them. But you wont do that will you? Because 'you never know' if you might need it.

It's better to have protection and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

The laws in Canada on handguns are very restrictive to the point that you must draw maps for the police showing the route you will take whenever you leave your house with one. This is on top of having the two licenses required to even purchase the gun (full background check, safety course, they phone up everyone you know), and the permits required to move it from the store to your house. Because of this, I can't show images or discuss any handguns I may have fired/held/loaded as I do not follow these rules.

Honestly though I do not really feel the need to own a handgun right now. Home invasions are very rare up here, and I could much easily license/register a shotgun for home protection. I do carry a replica Glock 19 in my car in case I run into a situation where my appearance and baseball bat don't seem to be effective in preventing an incident.

Most H&K weapons cost a little bit more simply because its a german weapon, they are traditionally better and are engineered to a higher standard.

But I totally agree with you, they are completely worth it.

It's real and completely absurd as a handgun. I've had the honor of firing one before and I can tell you first hand, it's like firing a freakin' cannon! Useless... but neat to look at.

I disagree! I've shot one too and yes it is like firing a cannon BUT look at the hog that kid killed with the Desert Eagle...There's not many other guns that could take on a animal of that size! Maybe a 357 Magnum but thats about it HaHa
