    Cpanel / Exim

    i am having a bit of a problem and i dont know what is cousing it


    Unable to send or receive messages for the domain (domain) account. The host 'mail.domain.net' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.

    Server: 'mail.domain.net'
    Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0D
    Protocol: POP3
    Port: 110
    Secure(SSL): No
    Socket Error: 11004


    i saw the following and tried that but with no luck
    i did follow another post here but with no luck i did the script/fixcommonproblems and with no luck


    when i try to send e-mail from another account not hosted on my server and if i send mail to account on my server this is what i get back

    The following message to <[email protected]> was undeliverable.
    The reason for the problem:
    5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'relay not permitted'

    I am not a Windows admin (I use Linux), but it sounds like your server does not think it is the mail server for that domain. It seems to think you are trying to relay through it.

    Is this the actual output of have you modified it for posting here?

    The following message to <[email protected]> was undeliverable.

    The issue above is in bold, it's an example address. Are you trying to send an email to that address? Or it looks like your system is incorrectly configured it its trying to deliver mail to mail.domain.com

    It's hard to tell without going through your configuration

    no i have change to domain for client sakes
    and yes i i using another dns servers for my server just for the moment is use dns from this company 1984.is

    i am using centos 5.4 and cpanel

    So the dns was changed out already? And that domain is specified in the localdomain file (/etc/localdomains), so that Cpanel will acknowledge that is sending mail for that account?

    This is a simple DNS issue. Check dig mx domain.net returns proper address and that it resolves to the correct IP.
    Windows/Linux Expert; Plesk/Cpanel/Ensim Guru.

    yes domains are in /etc/localdomains

    i am using dns from another host and it has a mx for my domain also but to anther ip could that be the problem

    It look like the three domains (stjornuljos.net,mx1.1984.is,mx2.1984.is) point to different servers. But the mail servers list doesn't contain mail.stjornuljos.net as the error suggests. So it should be improperly configured on the sending host. OR your MX records need to be changed.

    okey i have not been able to get this to work i cannot connect to mail server for some reason but i would like to update this i have a server with only one ip address and every thing works exept mail could this be coz of this

    is this the right setup for resolvers

    Primary: 127.0.0.1
    Secondary: Main server IP
    Tertiary: Second ip for second nameserver

    i have on my server configured it like this

    Primary: My main ip address
    Secondary: opendns< public reslover ip
    Tertiary: opendns< public reslover ip

    everything else works i think
