    Leaseweb Amsterdam, any good?

They offer dedicated servers with 100 Mbps unshared bandwidth. At 4000 GB/month you pay about 60 euro which is very good I guess. Is there any catch with this, is the 100 Mbps really always full unshared 100 Mbps?

Also, all their dedicated servers have either 1 or 2GB RAM, isn't that a bit on the small side?

Other experiences with Leaseweb are welcome.

    Thanks

I for example have a leaseweb server with 4G RAM, so recheck your info about their hardware.

All I can tell about them is that they have pretty good network infrastructure, so expect very high uptime and speeds. Also, like other NL providers, they are quite liberal about user content on their servers. So your server wont get shut down after first mail of random copyrast.
Bad side - they seem severely understaffed, so don't expect that you problem will be solved fast, if you get any. They will try to do their best, but this could take quite a long time.

Or it is 100Mbps unshared, or it is 4000GB transfer, cannot be both at the same time.

Why not? Unshared doesnt meen it is unmetered. Ok, true, it won't be unshared over all customers since that's impossible. But if 100 customers download with 10 mbit, leaseweb will have ~ 4 x 1 gbit to the switches (for example). In my opinion unshared.

The ready to use servers are pretty much fixed configurations where you have either 4 TB transfer or unmetered bandwidth.

However, on the left of that page there's a link saying "Build your own" where you can customize certain configurations:

    http://www.leaseweb.com/en/dedicatedserver

You could also give them an email asking for a custom configuration though I'm not sure how much success you'll have.

I have a dedicated server at them and I'm very satisfied with the bandwidth and uptime and peerings so other than the price (which is OK but I could do better now), I can't complain.

Another host worth investigating is i3d.net: http://i3d.net/dedicated-servers-root-servers.php

leaseweb is one of the best in EU, and yes the bandwidth is dedicated.
i'm not sure whether it's 100% "unshared", but you will be able to push 100mbit at any time.

Leaseweb are good... if you are prepared to pay through the arse for their support packages, if you just go with the standard support don't expect any rush on your tickets.

    Keep in mind though:
    • You can't rent any of their dedicated servers which cost less than 100 euro/month on anything less than 3 month contracts.
    • The prices on their site are NOT monthly prices, they are prices you'll receive on a 12 month contract (+30% on the price if you want it monthly (only available on servers which cost more than 100 euro/month), +20% for 3 months, +10% for 6 months).
    • If your inside the EU, the prices don't include VAT at 19% until your right through to the end of the server configuration options.

So for example, on their heavily advertised 29 euro/month server, you can only rent this every 3 months, which will then cost you 20% more ((29 * 3) + 20%) = 104.40. And don't forget another 19% if your in the EU = 124.24 for 3 months, which is in fact 42 euro/month.

Its a sketchy marketing policy, I know...

As per my knowledge it is 100% "unshared". Dedicated to per server

Impossible and not needed. They have more than enough free capacity for burst, but if they sell 10 servers with 1 TB traffic they wont upgrade their network capacity with 1 gbit...

They say they have 22.000 servers, the external capacity is not 2200 gbit .

Their capacity is at least more than 400gbps and in addition they have tons of peerings (128 gbps)...

In one of the blog posts in April they're bragging they went over 300gbps with the traffic and as any decent datacenter would have 30-50% reserve they probably have double of that available.

The servers are unshared but as not all server do 100mbps all the time because you'd go over the 4TB limit in less than a week so it's possible to do it.

So, as i said, technically it is shared . But no one will notice it.

You can get more than 2 GB with the "custom" servers. They occasionally (by which I mean rarely) have 4 GB pre-built servers, but you'd pretty much have to camp that site.

But yeah, their pricing is very misleading. Most prices are for 12 month packages, and if you visit the "custom" section, the prices listed are for the minimum configuration while the stats listed are (inconsistently) for the maxed base configuration - which of course usually is vastly more expensive. For example their "Unmetered 3" server for EUR 339 is listed with 12x 1TB disks, but to actually get this you have to pay EUR 120 extra per month.

As for their support, well.. it started out as abysmal. Worst case, earlier this year I had a simple reboot ticket open for 37 hours. But they got better before I got around to get away from them, so I still have a few servers with them, but only because they are cheap for what they do, and part of a redundant setup. And, I guess, because their network is actually very good.

Leaseweb has one of the biggest networks in Europe, maybe even the biggest.
Their network is pretty reliable, and their transits and peerings are really 'around the globe'.
I still have a 'development server' at Leaseweb, the server itself is of good quality (DELL), but I can notice it is shared among other server. Network to network is less then 70Mbits.

I do know LeaseWeb offers, different type of network SLA's, you might want to take a look at it!

However one major disadvantage about LeaseWeb in my opinion, don't expect QUICK support from the guys. For me, the few issues I had, were always taking 1 day+. Not something nice when a customer is at that server.
But again, you get what you are paying for. LeaseWeb is cheap, so is their support...

Maybe its out of content, but someone also recommended me leaseweb for normal sharing account.

I saw good reviews here and contacted them with just 2 simple questions, but didnt get a reply in 2 days.

Today contacted their live sales and asked him if they can help me with the transfer of mails from custom panel to Plesk and the dude replied he's from sales and doesnt know these stuff. so i asked him to check my request mail and get the concerned person reply, and still waiting for reply.

    This doesn't surprise me.

I had a several month turnaround on a dedicated server presales email once.

You're confusing unshared with unmetered. I rather have 4TB@100Mbps unshared than 100Mbps shared and unmetered :-)
