    * Disk Imaging Softwares

    I am planning to upgrade my 160gb hard disk to a larger drive, but keep the existing hardwares (board, ram, cpu) the same. I will need a disk imaging software to clone my whole 160gb disk to the new disk to keep my files and installed programs in tact. Which disk imaging softwares would you recommend?

    Acronis True Image

    If you have an Intel motherboard check in the drivers CD...it might have a free oem version of Acronis True Image

    I've also used Acronis many times, always been happy with it.

    The CD is bootable and its called "XpressRecovery". A quick prompt comes up before your OS loads to press a key to use XpressRecovery.

    Dont know about XpressRecover. Intel has given a installable Acronis True Image with several other programs like Kaspersky AntiVirus and Diskeeper for defragmenting.

    Acronis TrueImage

    But honestly you can just download the manufacturers setup tools .iso which will include software simular to Acronis which will duplicate two disks.

    That is true... western digital offers a WD Acronis offering at http://www.support.wdc.com . Sure other HD companies have something similar.

    I'd rather have the full version... nice tool to have. Never tried the offering from WD though...

    I use Acronis when I clone my own machines.

    I would suggest Acronis True Image (like everyone else has so far), however Paragon Drive Backup is also pretty good and I'd rate it just as good as Acronis.
