    Unlimited Bandwidth

Just saw that term advertised in a banner ad for ServerBeach on the WHT homepage.

Isn't the offer sections still banned of unlimited offers?

Shouldn't it be none or all are welcome?

No unlimited/unmetered space, unlimited bandwidth, or lifetime plan offers. Posting such offers will lead to your post being removed and may cause your account to be suspended.
Unmetered bandwidth offers are allowed but must include a clear bandwidth cap.

I was just coming to make this post myself.
Here is the banner advertising "UNLIMITED" Bandwidth:

Probably the rule is for offers section, not for the paid ads?

I believe this was already discussed in the past and what we understand is that unlimited, etc are only disallowed in the offers section in the form of postings and does not cover paid advertisements.

    I don't see any problem.
WHT cannot and should not interfere with paid advertiser's business model, as long as it is legal.
Plus, not all the advertisers are members of WHT.

Interesting to see the different viewpoints on this. Oh well, I don't advertise my hosting here so I really shouldn't care.

    What about paid stickys?

  13. #13
WHT allowing paid hosts to use the term "Unlimited Bandwidth" in promotional offers is like torrent sites condoning the use of illegal file sharing. The latter is illegal and so should other one be too! ;P I suppose that topic is best fitted for another thread though.

Any ad that is posted within the Advertising Forums must follow the rules. So yes, that includes stickies.

1and1 has the same thing. I think if I'm right, they're paid ads and most are through 3rd party sites anyways (doubleclick etc) so iNET can't really slap on doubleclick as that's Google.
    Nothing here right now.

    Blocking the bill payers

Well I really do not like those unlimited ads but if that is what pays the bills at WHT I'll accept it. But when someone is posted for free its different.

I believe perhaps they have their own explanation of "UNLIMITED" ?

e.g. terms and conditions applied, hahaha.

I don't know how WHT can continue to block the term unlimited. While we all know it's not possible for something to be truly unlimited the market is clearly shifting in that direction. It's time for WHT to pull the monkey off the market's back, and let things be as they should.

I doubt iNet would disallow the "unlimited" related stickies since they are paid advertisements, can a iNet rep verify this?

I for one would like to see the unlimited rule go away, since it has became completely baseless with all these paid advertisements, and the ridiculous resource offers being posted on a daily basis.

Unlimited is not allowed in stickies. All stickies must conform to the rules of the ad forum they are in.

Is the unlimited ad displayed when viewing the offers forum?

If so that completely violates the rules. Even if it doesn't violate the rules when it shows up on a non-offers forum page.

I can't see what's not to understand here. The rules apply to posts, threads, signatures and profiles. They're not rules pertaining to banners displayed on the site.

What rule are they breaking? They are not posting the ad.

I feel those making the most noise are likely more concerned with their inability to post unlimited ads than rule compliance.
