Just a short review on Clustered.net who I've been using as main provider since June 2009.
Before them I've been using Softlayer, which have been great on the dedicated server front, but I needed something more affordable and honestly, more stable than their own CCI solutions.
Clustered looked too good to be true, VPS nodes with specs close to that of dedicated servers and still really cheap. So I signed up for a few nodes and tried them out.
My uptimes improved and so did the network latency
The performance of nodes is exceptional, it's closer to a dedicated server than a VPS.
Also, they communicate with their customers on maintenance and include details such as how they have tested their changes before committing them.
Their offerings include for free:
-Backup space (though I use their paid managed backups pretty much everywhere)
-Hardware firewall in front of your VPS
Excellent performance, cheap, good support, excellent uptimes.
Tickets are always solved (not just answered) within an hour.
Sometimes get the feeling support is overworked (have had a few requests that I needed to rerequest because the change didn't work)
A lot of things seem to be manual work (which is not bad, but it's annoying when you are used to being able to do almost everything without human intervention)
Sometimes have trouble getting my nodes to talk to eachother over private network due to security constraints (though to be fair, these are always fixed in 10 mins when I make a ticket)
I'm spoilt, where can I find a Clustered.net like company servicing the US?
I've pretty much moved everything to them, but I do need two locations for Geographic failover etc.
Network (especially for Europe) 9/10
I'd like to second this review, as a customer for almost an year now, running 4 VPS's with them. All "the good" matches, and as an experienced admin I don't really mind the extra work and tickets to get things as I want, they've never left me hanging with anything.
It was the best move for us in 2009. I was looking for a company providing high performance VPS's that I would feel confident using as standard dedicated, including seamless managed backups. They lived up to it, and I sleep much better now.
Still going great at Clustered, no downtimes excellent network and never really a reason to call support
I agree that they will always step in and do whatever you ask (I've needed the occasional networking help)
Im with clustered and they have been abselutly amazing 5stars for performance and 5stars for support (mainly due to them helping me with the most basic things which they say they dont help with)... Would deffinetly recommend clustered to anyone... Well done the clusterd team...
Good for clustered.net to see happy customers. Though support is still very important and crucial for any company, still they make up with it through their performance (based on your review). And thanks for your update.. =)
