    Ripping a sign of flattery?

Except for when you watch them do it in front of you!

    www.hostingworld.co.uk/new
    compare it to hostmist.com

Idiots, why would you leave my logo and livechat code there?

    Oh well DMCA'd their provider.

Durr. Yeah sure, ripping is a sign of flattery.
Just like someone stealing your car would be -- aww! How sweet, they really liked my car..

No, really. It's not. It's criminal, and nothing more.

The only way to keep someone from being able to steal your code is to move it onto a CD and bury it in a shoebox in your yard, hiding the location, and never publish it on the internet.

I've also had people take my content and put in on their own sites as if they created it (6 that I know of are no longer in business). When asked to remove it, they did everything from threaten to find me and beat me up for accusing them to trying to claim I took it from them though I could prove it predated their domain/site by plenty.
There will always be those that take from others.
DMCA and move on is about all you can do these days.

Name and shame is often helpful, though.

Yeah there's ways but then we want Google to be able to rip our site and put it in their "archive".

Usually when someone leaves your live chat code or something being pulled from your domain it will show up in your stats or live chat client.

Yes actually their host ignored my copyright claim no response from OVH at all. It took a direct letter to hostingworld's support.

Ripping off someone else' work is just plain wrong. Very surprised their host did not do anything.
