How To Install FFMPEG Packages On CentOS 5 64-Bit?

    Hi guys,

I need to install the complete FFMPEG package onto my VPS which includes, FFMPEG, Mplayer, Mencoder, Lame, etc.

I generally use the following script which works as a charm, but doesn't work very well on CentOS 64-Bit.

    http://scriptmantra.info/ffmpeg.html

Does anyone have any scripts which work? Or any tutorials on how to do this quick?

    Thanks!

This tutorial works fine for me on CENTOS 5 64-bit systems:

    http://linuxsysadminblog.com/2008/06...m-with-cpanel/

Note that even though it tells you how to install on a cPanel system, the procedure is the same even without cPanel installed. The only difference is that with a cPanel system you can modify the php.ini file to load the FFMPEG-PHP extension from within WHM, whereas without cPanel you'd have to modify it yourself.

First you need to install the Dag Repository:

    x64
    Code:
    rpm -Uhv http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el5/en/x86_64/rpmforge/RPMS//rpmforge-release-0.3.6-1.el5.rf.x86_64.rpm
    x86
    Code:
    rpm -Uvh http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el5/en/i386/rpmforge/RPMS/rpmforge-release-0.3.6-1.el5.rf.i386.rpm
Follow this guide to set up yum-priorities: http://wiki.centos.org/PackageManagement/Yum/Priorities

Then you need to install ffmpeg, ffmpeg-devel, and ffmpeg-libpostproc.

    Code:
yum install ffmpeg ffmpeg-devel ffmpeg-libpostproc mencoder
Download, decompress, and install the latest FFMPEG-PHP:

    Code:
    cd /usr/src
    wget wget http://superb-west.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/ffmpeg-php/ffmpeg-php-0.6.0.tbz2
    tar -jxvf ffmpeg-php-0.6.0.tbz2
    cd ffmpeg-php*
    phpize
    ./configure && make
    make install
You then need to open the php.ini and add extension=ffmpeg.so You will likely have to copy the extension to the right directory so make sure to see what the extension directory is while you are in the php.ini file.

    Code:
    echo "extension=ffmpeg.so" >> /usr/local/lib/php.ini
Now you need to install Ruby so you can install flvtool2:

    Code:
    /scripts/installruby
    Now install flvtool2:

    Code:
    cd /usr/src
    wget http://rubyforge.org/frs/download.php/17497/flvtool2-1.0.6.tgz
    tar xvzf flvtool2*.tgz
    cd flvtool2*
    ruby setup.rb config
    ruby setup.rb setup
    ruby setup.rb install
This should take care of it for you...
