Need a computer to run my web business from

I currently use a hackintosh PC and I have experience with Windows and Mac OSX. I do a fair bit of work with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, Fireworks, etc) so that really rules out Linux.

I run a web development business and I am in the process of starting to offer web hosting too which is going to become more of a full time job. As a result, I am looking to get a new computer to run the business from so I would like some advice on what I should get.

    Here's what I was thinking...

I could either get one computer and do everything on it (from design to support, etc) or I could get a computer dedicated to the design side and another computer dedicated to the support side (so would have the live chat software, a generic 'support' email account set up, etc). However, either way, I'm not sure about specs/OS/etc.

So... can you guys help? Should I go with Windows or Mac OSX (or should I use OSX for design and Windows for the support machine?) What specs should I be looking at (for both or either computer)?

The only restriction is that the live chat software is Windows only but if I went with OSX I could use Windows in a VM.

    Thanks in advance.

You could go with Windows Server or Apache on a PC.

Just make sure your ISP has open port policy.
Throw in 1GB of RAM, as for CPU, depends what apps you'll be running. You could start off with a Dual Core.

I would use the Mac for design, and Windows for the server.

Sorry, I think you misunderstood my post.

I will not be using the computer as a server, I will be using servers in datacentres for that. The 'work' computer will be for the support software.

I don't think it really matters at all if all you will be doing is answering support tickets and using a live chat software....

Can probably find a used one in your parents basement for that.

Yea nothing special. Its basically email/internet browsing and probably 1 or 2 programs. But if you still want to drop money on a new computer look for something with 4-8 GBs of RAM and a quad core with windows 7. Its way overpowered for just support but maybe you'll find some use out of it

Thanks for your suggestion. As my OP said, I am looking for either: 1 computer to everything (i.e. web dev, light video editing, and the support stuff) or 2 computers (a support computer and a development computer), so I will consider your recommendation for the development computer/computer for everything

Run OSX and run Windows inside of virtualbox for the windows programs you need.

That's how I run it most of the time so I can keep livezilla up

Thanks. Yeah that's the sort of thing I was thinking. Is it reliable enough for you? I was thinking if I did this (and got dual displays), I could have the windows VM on a seperate display.

Thanks. I currently have a Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz but the graphics card isn't compatible running dual displays so might have to look into it.
