Where's the coolest place you've ever traveled to and why?
I'd have to say it's either traveling to Russia for two weeks, a day in Uruguay, or a week in Argentina.
If you never have traveled out of your country, that's okay. Where in your country did you find most amazing(It can't be where you live now)?

Zimbabwe/Zambia/Namibia/SA
Got to jump off gourge dive on Victoria falls and bungee jump, went on a few safaries(Londolozi was the best), saw lions, cheetahs, leopards(even a young one eating an antelope), elephants, etc. And walking trips were fun, except for when our guide had to load his high powered rifle because the female elephants didnt like us around and were thinking about charging at us.
Thailand was also very interesting and beautiful. Just as a white tourist it gets a little old/annoying after everyone asking you if you would like to have a woman spend the night with you(and I mean everyone, taxis, walking, they even ask you in the hotel lobby.Chicago Electronic Cigarettes: Tobacco Free, Smoke Free. 3 E-Cig Models, 11 flavors, and accessories.

Ok this is a religious one it was my first time on a Islamic Pillgrimage (Hajj) in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Saw some beatifull religious land marks. And the coolest thing was when it was time to pray I saw around atleast 300 000-400 000 people standing up in straight rows and all doing once act in just 1-2 minutes. And while there I done Jet Skiing which was a very nice experience.
And the other best place was Egypt last summer we done quad biking in the desert very fun and scuba diving the best.

It was, it was for my fathers 60th b-day, so we went all out(dont ask how much it cost for all 6 of us to go for two weeks, but its well over what i make in 2 years).
Zimbabwe was interesting also because my dad being just himself was checking his pictures on his camera while we were crossing the border(keep in mind this was 3 years ago). What you dont do at a crossing is pull out your camera. It was just a small roadblock with a few guys and guns and we were comming back from riding elephants. With all their money issues then and now(massive inflation) they wanted to take in all the currency and not let people out with large sums so when it stabalized come back in. So we got a half assed search for money and a bunch of questions because they thought he was snapping photos.Chicago Electronic Cigarettes: Tobacco Free, Smoke Free. 3 E-Cig Models, 11 flavors, and accessories.

Pembrokeshire, working !
I managed to jugle it so I took my wife & son [then about 6/7 years old] for a week,
covering my son's half term, my wifes birthday.
Work was only a day & a half 'on site', we stayed in a hotel on the seafront,
we had a 'sandy' seaside view.
On the morning of my wifes birthday, my son and I sneaked of to the beach
and in Giagantic Sand Writing, wrote Happy Birthday Mummy,
which was clearly visable from our hotel room.
Not the most exciting place I've been to, but for the 3 of us, it was pretty cool._____________________________________________________________

Antigua, Guatemala (Central America).
Beautiful city, and I had the pleasure of staying with the United Nation's Chief Human Rights Investigator for six weeks.

Milford Haven
before it was 'discovered' by the youngsters/surfers/clubers !
Also, somewhere in [North] Wales, the least cool place I stayed at,
was a hotel, where my 'room' was in fact the fire exit, which led directly into the local graveyard, not cool, but quite 'chilling'_____________________________________________________________

I've been to Greece and Turkey...But the sad thing is...Those are not my favorite places. I actually have been to a state in my country (Arizona) that I believe is more beautiful. Arizona is like another world! Mountains everywhere but also surrounded by desert...Its amazing there and I hope I can one day live in AZ!

One of the best recent trips I've taken was to Beijing for the 2008 Summer Olympics. The atmosphere was quite spectacular. I got to watch a few events too.

Sri Lanka (we went before the tsunami)- really happy people and such great variety, beautiful sandy beaches with swaying palms along the coast and contrasting hills and waterfalls around the tea plantations. Fantastic to see genuine working elephants.
A night in the Hill Club at Nuwara Eliya was fantastic, a trip back in time and the sunsets from the terrace of the Mount Lavinia Hotel are awesome.Last edited by grandad; 11-04-2009 at 10:43 AM. Reason: spelling!

Arizona is a pretty interesting place... you can drive from Phoenix where it may be as hot as 120F+ up I-17 to Flagstaff and see snow in the San Francisco Peaks. I like the desert, but after staying there for a few weeks, it made Texas seem like Alaska (temperature-wise).
Personally, I enjoy colder vacation destinations, but I will admit that Jamaica (outside of the cities) was very nice. Friendly people, very laid-back atmosphere, fresh fruit hanging off of every tree, miles and miles of white sand beaches backed up against thick tropical forests and a very comfortable climate.
But for the outdoorsman in me, nothing beats the Pacific Northwest (Northern California, Oregon and Washington). I could eventually make a home there... and actually venture outdoors in the summer without melting.
