    Hello,

You can add the iptables moduleS only from Node and not from VPS.

Correct, iptables modules maintained by the root server owner, not vps holder. You need to contact with your DC or, VPS provider to setup that for you.

I have the same problem and asked my host to enable it on my VPS there answer was:
Unfortunately, enabling the modules isn't possible, as it would have to be done across our entire network. Our Engineers chose to disable them due to numerous security concerns. I do apologise that we can't enable them.
    Do I really need it?
what will not work if its not enabled?
What are the alternative software firewalls if any?

I use the following steps for enabling IPTable Modules :

first if we have vps ID 110

    then on NODE:

    PHP Code:
    vi /etc/sysconfig/vz-scripts/110.conf
and on the bottom the file click "i" for inserting the following:

    PHP Code:
    IPTABLES="iptable_filter iptable_mangle ipt_limit ipt_multiport ipt_tos ipt_TOS ipt_REJECT ipt_TCPMSS ipt_tcpmss ipt_ttl ipt_LOG ipt_length ip_conntrack ip_conntrack_ftp ip_conntrack_irc ipt_conntrack ipt_state ipt_helper iptable_nat ip_nat_ftp ip_nat_irc"
then press "Esc" and type ":wq" for saving and exit

then executes the following on the NODE:

    PHP Code:
    modprobe ipt_MASQUERADE
    modprobe ipt_helper
    modprobe ipt_SAME
    modprobe ipt_REDIRECT
    modprobe ipt_state
    modprobe ipt_TCPMSS
    modprobe ipt_LOG
    modprobe ipt_TOS
    modprobe tun
    modprobe iptable_nat
    modprobe ipt_length
    modprobe ipt_tcpmss
    modprobe iptable_mangle
    modprobe ipt_limit
    modprobe ipt_tos
    modprobe iptable_filter
    modprobe ipt_helper
    modprobe ipt_tos
    modprobe ipt_ttl
    modprobe ipt_REJECT
    and then

    PHP Code:
    vzctl restart 110
Note: this is for OpenVZ Nodes
