    Hosting to distribute software

    Hello.
I am looking for a hosting to distribute and update the database of a own software. The size of the database is about 150 Mb. and I think it could be distributed to a lot of users (a few hundred of thousand).
I have thinked in the "unlimited bandwidth" hostings plans from Dreamhost, Hostgator, Bluehost and 1&1 hosting providers.
I have seen the TOS of Dreamhost and other hosting providers and I don't know if I can use the "Shared hosting" plans, I have to rent a VPS or I have to select another hosting plan.
Has anyone experience with software distribution/update hosting?

You would need a dedicated server. Shared hosts do not allow you to host files that users can download, especially not hundreds of thousands of users.

In that case I cannot host a Website, Users need to download the content to view it

I assume the simplest way is to get VPS server and get started andthen if you will need more you will move to another higher solution
ASPnix Web Hosting - ASP.NET, MS SQL, AJAX, Hyper-V
    Microsoft Hosting and Virtualization

Dreamhost just now answer my query
As far as our Terms of Service, as long as you are only distributing
files you own the copyrights for, and you are not negatively impacting
the server (and, of course, the files themselves are compliant with our
terms of service in every way) you can certainly try to use a shared
    hosting plan.

If it turns out the resources used in the way of CPU or concurrent
connections are too large for that, then you could move to a VPS at a
    later time.

If you have any other questions, or if I can help you further, just let
    me know!

    Thanks,
