PSPs, UK: SagePay, ePDQ, others?
Has anyone used SagePay or ePDQ? I used Protx once, but it was a few yrs ago now. Any opinions on these would be appreciated.
Or ideas for alternative PSPs would be great, here's some background info re that:
UK based, £3m turnover company.
Payment journey ideally to stay within our domain, or appear so.
Multi-currency (GBP, Euro, USD) and deferred payments needed.
We don't want to host card data and so get into the full PCI DSS shebang...
Cheers folks.

We use SagePay. Payments usually arrive promptly (a few times a day late but they ALWAYS communicate delays by email announcement), the cost is fair and their customer service is very good in my opinion - it's now 24/7, by phone, and you don't wait long.
Best wishes,

Hi
I have used Protx (now sagePay) and whilst it works, if there is any issue's I have always found it hard to get a decent answer out of them. I have just switched to RBSWorldPay, purely because the PCI DSS regulations.
Most of my customers want to do recurring transactions, Protx (now sagePay) dont have any way to do this without me storing card details.
Thanks
Andrew

Thanks Jo and Andrew. SagePay Sales have been helpful so far, although an initial email via their went to support and was unanswered. Barclays, took several calls to get any info at all, and I'm getting conflicting info from them now, depending which dept or number I speak to.
Checking out RBSWorldPay now.
I've got conflicting info on PCI DSS too, from the above places. Perhaps should be a separate topic though.
Cheers,
Bill

We did the opposite. We were with WorldPay for 5+ years and moved because the service was poor and when we looked at the options they had available it didn't offer as good value for money. We found their staff to be very hard to work with when it came to integration, more often than not we were sent through to a team in India who seemed to simply follow an on-screen protocol. You only got any real service when you fought and were transferred to their UK team. We also found their backend admin system a real pain in the neck to use.
We are running recurring transactions without any issue on SagePay, and we do not store customer card details ourselves. It's called a repeat transaction, you reference the initial transaction ID to do a repeat transaction on the card for whatever value you send through. Your internet merchant account just has to be set up to allow this.
I think SagePay really improved their customer service since being taken over by Sage.
Hope that helps.★ Jo Stonehouse - Kualo ❘ www.kualo.com

It's properly doing my head in... Far as I can see, everyone must comply, but it should be easy for us. One PSP says we'll be covered just by using a certified PSP, nothing else required. Seems fine.
Another organisation then says, if you use system 'X' (having a form on our own site, SSL, send data to theirs (transmitted only, not stored), result data comes back to ours), that's different - we need regular scanning. Conflicting with what the other says.
The PCI DSS site is as useful as a chocolate fireguard.
I'll do the basic research I reckon, then hand over to the finance folks to wade through the PCI DSS malarkey...!

Hello,
The PCI is best left to a specialist or the company managing your server setup.
If your transmitting data then you need to be compliant, if your storing data again compliant.
Only way you don't need to be is if it's completely hosted and processed by the PSP.
If you want the customer to enter the details on your site, you will need to be certified.
The rest is up to what merchant level you are. If your doing under 1m transactions your likely to be level 3 and if self hosted (as described above) you will need ;
Remote assessment & compliance validation
Monthly vulnerability scanning
Organisational validated SSL certificate
Best to work out what you need with the management company dealing with your server(s).Data Republic - UK Managed Servers - Server Management - Managed Backup/R1Soft

Thanks for that. What I've been told by a PSP is that if we go for transmitting data from our site to theirs, we are level 4 and need monthly scanning. The cost of that isn't bad at all, so we may do that since it allows the maximum control of the journey and page layouts. I hadn't thought of asking the hosts what they think, I'd assumed it was outside their remit, but thanks, I'll have a talk with them. The more info the merrier (I think...).
