I'm Judy Belt, and I'm not a webmaster. I'm an intern for a local Google advertising agency. I was hired to do video interviews for small businesses for placement on youtube. Since this entire industry is new to me they tell me I have to subscribe to dozens of forums to get some background on the why and where of website promotion.
Before the recession I was a CDL truck driver so I'm more than a little out of my element. It is facinating to see a customer come to us that has what I think is a perfectly fine website but it doesn't rank in Google, then we get involved and watch it climb in rank. It is a whole lot of manhours to accompilish this, so it's no wonder why we charge what we charge.
I guess I'm luckier than most interns because I do get paid a little, most internships are unpaid, all the intern gets out of it is experience to hopefully land a better job in the future. Right now I'm getting paid to learn, so please be patient with me if I ask stupid questions.
For the most part we take local Maryland small businesses as SEO clients but we have 2 North Carolina and a New York customer as well.
Hello Judy, welcome to the forum! Your current internship sounds pretty interesting. I live right outside of Frederick and go there often so nice to have more local people on here. Enjoy your stay and don't forget to read over The Rules.
