    Got a new PC!

    Hey guys,

Just wanted to share the new PC Laptop I picked up this week. This is a major upgrade from my previous Dell running w/ 60GB HD - 1GB Ram.

Here are some specs about it:

    HP
    Windows 7
    6GB DDR3 memory
    500 GB Hard Drive
    1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 230M
    Intel® Core™ i7-720QM processor
1066MHz frontside bus, 6MB L2 cache and 1.6GHz processor speed with Turbo Boost capability up to 2.8GHz.
7 hours and 15 minutes Battery life
    17" Screen
    Blu-ray, ultrawide display with 1080p and a 16:9 ratio

    Software:
    Adobe Photoshop CS4
    Adobe Dreamweaver CS4

    What do you think?

Is that the price with the software? If so what was the price for just the system?

    Definitely a sexy machine

That price is for the laptop alone. The software costs me an additional amount, but I only had to pay the upgrade prices as I already owned previous versions.

I'd rather have a desktop but it's a nice laptop.

Thats a nice spec for a pc, why only 17inch? 22inch would be better to run CS4

    Nice!

I got mine a few months back and I was a little more conservative.

    Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 2.1GHz
    4.0GB RAM DDR3
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M 512MB
    Dual Layer DVD Burner
    Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
    160GB Intel X25 SSD
    15.6" WXGA LCD

Notebook PC was about $800 + $500 for the Intel X25 SSD (a hair under $1300)

I use HDMI out to my 24" HP LCD Replaced my Core i7 Beast of a desktop. So I just pull 3 cords and go when I need to, usually about once per month.

I like having a laptop because it allows me to have freedom. I cannot stand being confined to one place while designing.

I was about to go for the 18.3" screen but the laptop itself was just too large. I'll probably invest in an external monitor at some point in time.

Nice setup you have there. I like the HDMI idea, I'll look into some options.

I have three of the 24" versions of these: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?inv...3W8H-R&cat=MON

They are super fantastic! Just make sure you have a monitor calibrator. I opted for a cheapie Huey calibrator and they are all sorts of sexy LCD's now.

The HDMI is nice for client presentations.

Is the screen glossy? How glossy?

    RossMan,

I customized the laptop to include basically everything top of the line. I noted earlier in the thread roughly how much I spent on the laptop.

You should get one of those 50" LCD TVs someday so that you an hook it up to your laptop unless you already have one.

$2,000 is for the laptop only and does not include software, correct?
