Remote Desktop Connection
Hopefully this is the correct forum for this stuff. So I'm a complete VPS newbie. I signed up for a windows VPS.
The directions I recieved were "Please use remote desktop to connect to your server."
So I entered the ip address into the remote desktop connection window and it doesn't connect. Where do I go from here? I searched and can't find any relevant info. Thanks.

Ask the host provider to make sure that RDP is enabled on the server and that the firewall allows RDP connections.

There are two things that come to mind on your side:
1. You have a firewall preventing outbound connections to Remote Desktop
2. Your ISP blocks outbound connections to Remote Desktop.
Both are not likely.
Does your host require a VPN connection before accessing Remote Desktop? They might for security.

If you want send me your login details and I will test the connection. If I can't connect then its the host fault

You dont need the login details. Just try to connect to the IP address on the RDP port and see if you get a connection denied or not.

Honestly..I'm not too sure. Ive been trying to get in contact with the host all day.. no response. The only information I got was that I had to connect with RDC. And my firewall is enabled to allow RDC. I'm pretty sure my ISP isn't blocking outbound connections. Hmm..I might just wait it out to hear back from the host.

If you have been trying to reach them all day with no response, you need a different hosting provider.

Try telnet to the port 3389 on the server, if you get no response there is either a firewall blocking it, or its not enabled.
