    Alot is based on what they have done to hurt or betray you. I don't think some people deserve forgiveness.

    There's a difference between forgiving and forgetting. Sooner or later, the right thing to do is to forgive, to let go. Forgiving sometimes requires a long time. Forgetting is less likely to happen, and usually isn't really advisable.

    Prime Example: 9/11
    Why would that be any more important than say the Pearl Harbor attack. (Or from the Japanese POV, the Hiroshima bombing for that matter?) Or would you say that the two nations didn't forgive each other yet, and never will?

    Forgiving vs forgetting reminds me of tolerating vs accepting.

    I was brought up to [atleast aim/try to]:

    Forgive as soon as you are able, but NEVER Forget.

    Not easy, but a pretty good guideline, if you can.
