PayPal Is out of their mind

A few hours ago, I checked my account and realized that it was closed. It has been open for only about 15 days and its closed already. I received no payments on the account, I only send out a few. I call up PayPal and demand an answer. They say that there is no reason in particular that my account was closed, they told me I am in a high risk business. My account was a business account with a registered LLC. When opening the account I wrote that I do web hosting. They tell me that they do not wish to have me as a client because I do web hosting. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have a feeling you're not telling the whole story.

They might be crazy, but they won't just close accounts with no money.

The only transfers I've had were Bank to PayPal. I was constantly shifting back and forth. Other then that, their were no external payments.

Why were you moving money to Paypal, then back to your bank?

Perhaps Paypal saw that as a sign of money laundering, which is illegal, and decided to close your account.

How many times, and to how many accounts, did you "shift" this money around?

Well I hope that they don't close our account as our policy is to transfer the funds as soon as they come into the PayPal account to our business bank account.

Have you tried calling them and speaking to someone else? Asking for management maybe?

    Adult hosting by chance?

As someone said, something is not "right" with this situation / story.

As for others having a concern for moving funds, that's not an issue. I know businesses that put transfers through a few times a day.

But do businesses constantly shift back & forth, my understanding of that is that he was shifting funds from paypal to bank & back again

It would seem that the shifting of funds back and forth without matching payment activity rang the automated account monitors. It would look very suspicious. More money moving around than payments or sales.

Are you sure they said this? This is unbelievably the most unprofessional manner of them (if it's the real fact) to close someone account without any reason or explanation

I was constantly shifting back and forth
I do think every business that contain both online and offline venture needs money shifting, paypal should already know bout this. Maybe you should call them and ask the detail about your account suspension.

I think your theory is right. Surely some kind of explanation (even if limited) must have been offered by PayPal, eh?

Similar thing happened to me. The closed my account at one point because I sold painted xbox controllers. They said this was high risk. I now use GoogleCheckout and Alertpay.

To be honest, I don't think that our good old VPS seller is telling the whole story.

You were probably flagged as laundering money, if you were transferring back and forth.

    @deathbypie:

Microsoft can have them close your account on the fact your reselling a product, and I almost guarantee you didn't have Microsoft's direct permission.
Not sure what to put here :-P

I will echo the sentiments of many previous posters. The OP has definitely not told the whole story.

There's nothing illegal about reselling Xbox 360 controllers. Painted or not.

So no, they can't just have your account closed.

I think they would be out of their mind if they allowed users who just signed-up to possibly launder money thought their service.

There is obviously a reason for this. I would phone them again, and if you don't get a suitable answer ask for management. I would be interested to know the reasons behind this.
