Is http://www.gnax.net/ down for anyone here?

I see http://downorisitjustme.com/res.php?url=www.gnax.net/ said it is down as well.

Some servers are up, some are down (but up on nlayer route). I believe is a routing issue.

    Dallas network seems fine.

we lost a core - it is being replaced currently. you should be up however. You would look like you were down if you were on a backbone that was connected to that core until it reconverged and bgp route table updates quit flooding the other core.

You will probably notice some instability for the next few hours as the replacement is brought up and routes are reconverged etc.

    thanks for your patience.

i don't know anything about network, but is there any way to prevent this from happening again?

can there be another core for redundancy purposes or any network will turn flaky with one of the cores down?

I think we should just wait for an "official" follow-up from the DC once the problem at hand is resolved ... we've had to respond an enourmous amount of calls due to downed servers from our clients ... which I must say, has been a long time since that happened (thankfully)!

Well that is a good sign.
Means they have the core replaced and are now trying to converge the routes.

Just have to hang on and wait for the magic to happen.

    From GNAX:

Hi Matt. It looks like a sup card went bad in one of the core routers. The card has been swapped and the config is in the process of being loaded now.

Just came to see if there were other people seeing this or was I just the lucky one.

Here's two traceroutes, one showing nlayer and one showing telia as the cause of the disruption, so my guess would be it's perhaps the incoming link into gnax failing for some providers. A traceroute from other places, our servers at Pacific Rack for example, can get there just fine.

Here is a traceroute from our office that craps out at nlayer:

    Code:
    1 static-24-214-181-94.knology.net (24.214.181.94) 0.402 ms 1.570 ms 1.735 ms

2Grumpy - Thanks for responding! I was starting to wonder as others were posting that they were online.
I took a proactive approach and contacted all my clients but this is definitely not what I had scheduled for my morning.

    Thanks again!

We have a mix of gold and silver, all still down from our offices in N Alabama

Our gold stuff seems to time out via telia and the silver via nlayer.

And as mine too. I don't understand why half of the systems are fine during the entire process though. Seems like we need more info here.

When a core goes down at GNAX it is typically all or nothing.

From what I understand they have 2 different cores.
One core feeds half the data center and the other feeds the other half.
Only one core supervisor card went bad.
If you are on it you are down if you are on the other one you are seeing network loss but still up.
