    how to define ip scope

hello, I saw some sample in iptables like 124.228.0.0/16. I'd like to know what means about '/16' here?

The /x notation is used with "Classless Inter-Domain Routing"
    hxxp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classless_Inter-Domain_Routing

It essentially means the same as 124.228.0.0 with a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0.
