301 .htaccess redirect question please
my site is placed at public_html folder, ex: http://abcd.com and I want move it to new folder so the url will be http://abcd.com/mytravel
How I use .htaccess redirect to redirect all old urls to exactly new urls ?
I dont want visitors get 404 page not found when visited old urls I posted on the internet .
Thank you .
stick this in root;
RedirectMatch 301 index.html http://abcd.com/mytravel
edit; i read this wrong. try something like this.
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.domain.com/$1 [L,R=301]

It doen't work, I get error:
The page isn't redirecting properly
You can always do it from the cpanel.. all your backslinks and all the info will be redirected.
So in the Cpanel I will go to Redirect area and choose 301 redirect ?
Choose my abc.com and redirects to→ http://abc.com/mytravel ??
Wild Card Redirect check or not ??
use a 301 to keep the root servers following your direction
check your apache settings to see if the "rewrite_mod" is enabled
I am using HostGator bussiness package .
