Only one client that I setup with Vista out of 10 or so had an issue. And I think it was a between the ears issue myself It always worked fine for me. However, 7 is even better, so I will stick with that now. Did an upgrade in place and never looked back. Still want to get 4GB more of RAM and make the move to 64bit ASAP, but that is a whole lot of work

Oddly enough, I have found that many less experienced computer users (e.g. the types who are clients) like Vista. But I bet they will prefer Windows 7 long term.

I think I'll hold off until I do a laptop upgrade in a few years time. They should have the bugs ironed out windows7 by then and I'll get that with the new laptop.

I got Windows 7 for my home PC and so far I am absolutely satisfied with all the improvements. I have to admit though that I was one of the people who thought that Vista was a great OS already.

I seen on the news a few days ago when it was getting ready for the launch of Windows 7 but I share the same views as other companies.

Why upgrade? My XP SP3 still works fine with no problems

Reason: When I upgraded to Vista I had a series of problems and wasn’t that nice an experience for me

Well yeah, I heard the Beta was a success, so Microsoft must be doing something right.

Absolutely. There's no reason not to upgrade at this point.

Yes, but that doesn't mean you can't do a "fresh install" (ie: reinstall the system OS instead of 'upgrade' it).

Surely you're joking, right? There is absolutely no chance in HELL that this man will win this lawsuit. Choose a new name for your company, that's all the judge is going to say.

We've known this was going to be Windows 7 for a couple years now, this guy really has no case at all.

Do I have it installed? Damn right I do . I managed to actually luck out and get it from Amazon when they had copies of premium going for $50/pop. Upgraded laptop and desktop.

Why upgrade from XP? Because XP is unsupported. It's done with, it's over, get over it.. Microsoft has not supported XP (officially) in years. Why not just stick with '98 if you like running relics!

    Hi mate,

Whats your views on Windows 7

Does Outlook work fine, any driver issues?

I don't use outlook, it's pathetic software that can't tell what a real error is.

Driver issues? Not a one. I had to actually download my sound drivers from Creative, but that's all good. Didn't support my wifi card, but once I threw the manufacturer disk in, it came up just fine.

Drivers are fine, and also Outlook 2007 works fine, all programs work fine, many are fast think due to the lighter windows shell, its not as farty as vista with shadows and transparency everywhere

I think I missed this compelling argument.

What exactly is the reason to upgrade at this point? My XP boxes work fine for me, I tried the beta, and it wasn't very smooth, so why should people be rushing out to spend a few hundred bucks on this new MS product exactly?

    It's great!

I agree with buying it, but if i were you - i'd buy it with the next computer upgrade... not immediately.

Well I have a Dell XPS M1710 with Vista and it's working perfectly. I've never had an issue with it in the few years I've had it. I played around with Windows7 on a PC at the local computer store tonight, and I can't see why I should upgrade to Windows7. Perhaps you can convince me of the need to upgrade if Vista is doing a great job now? Am I missing something huge here?

If you're happy with Vista , Bob, stick with it. A lot of people (not me) weren't happy with it though.

One thing about 7 as compared to Vista is bloat. The system just runs a LOT faster, no matter what your specs are.

7 takes a little getting used to, especially with the reworking of the taskbar, but it is completely worth it
