SharkSpace, DownTownHost, Hawkhost or 3inetwork for Asia?
Narrowed down my choices to these companies. My customers will mainly be in Asia and for that reason I am thinking of going with Sharkspace and choosing their West Coast server option.
Anyone have experience with 3inetwork? They seemed geared towards Vietnamese customers (where I am at the moment) but can't find many reviews. I will be looking to buy tomorrow so speedy replies appreciated.
Where exactly in Asia? If it's China I've found things really tricky there as far as routing. Not always does a provider being on the west coast mean the performance will be the best. The providers they bring in may have issues in China or issues with peering there so it's not any better than say even the east coast. So I would take a close look at the actual performance and not just use the location to determine it'll be good.

There are not many reviews cause we don't ask customers to go here to post their reviews And as you see, we have many Vietnamese customers, not many of them have reviewing habit either. Just FYI, we have been in business since 5 years (under gate2vn.net brand) and growing.
For DTH question, they seem rent server in Denver.

We have servers in Denver, Michigan, Washington (Seattle), Texas and Illinois. However, as Tony said, the server location does not have direct relationship with the speed, we have some customers who have better connectivity on Asia from servers in Texas than in Seattle

I don't think that any of the hosts listed on this thread does ask to their customers to do it.
The OP is in Vietnam. We have many customers in Vietnam too. We still have servers in Dallas (in Colo4Dallas datacenter) and Atlanta (in Wiresix datacenter), beside the main system in Seattle. However, all customers in Vietnam now are migrated to Seattle-based servers (in Netriver datacenter) with better network for Asia Pacific area with mix of NTT/Verio and PCCW/BTN.
I agree that server location is just one factor, but with an optimized network for a specific area, the situation will be much better

In terms of location, sharkspace's LA would be a better pick compared to Seattle. For some reason Seattle averages 50-100ms more latency compared to LA when I tested most of the Asia locations from traceroute.org. Do be aware of their 1 domain/mysql limitation though on their smallest shared account.
They all seem like good providers so perhaps existing reviews can help you narrow down to one.
My tests do not reflect the whole of Asia of course, but I'm positive I've done traceroutes from most major Asian locations And yes its 50-100ms. Also to be noted that I only compared Webnx LA and Softlayer Seattle so other datacenters may vary in results.
Here, you may want to give it a go as well
WebNX = 18.104.22.168 or 22.214.171.124
Softlayer seattle = 126.96.36.199
See it now. I think Softlayer in Seattle is having trouble right now. Comparing to our servers, just outside of Seattle, the latency difference is 100ms+ :| Tested from Vietnam and Hongkong.
Comparing to Webnx, not big different between our servers. Tested from Hutchison even shows our servers in Seattle has 50ms less than Webnx in LA (160ms vs 210ms). Please note that when saying about Vietnam specifically, most ISPs here have big routes to NTT or PCCW. That's why we put those vendors into our network mix
