You yum updates seem a bit on the high side. Kill all yum updates and run the yum update manually to see if it completes normally.

Regards

What sort of resources [i.e RAM, CPU access] does your VPS have?

You rebooted and the VPS won't start?

Login to WHM and choose "Update Config" > "Security Package Updates" > "Manual Updates Only"

This will fix the update which is consuming load, unless you have a manually configured cron.

In order to tweak mysql, you should seek the help of an experienced administrator. Contact me at deadlysamurai7@gmail.com if you would like me do it for you.

You should do that WHM tweak to prevent it happening again; rebooting won't be a permanent solution.
