Difference between Cheap and Affordable web hosting
Prospective web hosting clients have to understand that there's a clear difference between a cheap hosting service and an affordable one.
For one, an afordable service has to do with the budget of the client, meaning the cient has a an amount he will like to spend on a web host account while a cheap web hosting service has to do with the price of the product in relation with the services offered. For example a shared host that you get for $10 will definitey have more features than a shared that cost $3.99.
You have to know what you want before taking an action that you may regret later.

I think of this a lot, its like both words Cheap and Affordable mean diffrent but people use them as they mean the same,
When I look at it, Cheap Hosting means its for a small site might have downtime its cheap a pro wont use it.
As for Affordable, I look at it as Affordable Hosting is something that alot of people can afford, Its less money.

When it comes down to it, it's all just budget hosting, but providers use " affordable" so that the quality of services doesn't sound as "cheap".

Price depends on your resource needs. If you can give the specifications you will get more helpful answers. I can say this is the right place to find your host.

There really isn't a "right price" when it comes to hosting. A lot of good points have been made on this feed. Everyone is always trying to cut down on price, but people need to be careful not to cut corners on levels of service. The right account executive should be able to customize a package based on their client's needs. Taking the time to do research on certain companies truly does pay off. Best of luck to you all in finding the perfect host!

I see no real difference between the two. Two hosts at the same price level can offer the same thing on paper, with very different actual service quality.
It is just marketing that emphasizes "affordable" as a more acceptable form of "cheap", because it doesn't carry any secondary pejorative meanings.

I have to agree with Dan - I personally would avoid any host labeling themselves as either "cheap" or "affordable" but that's just me.

I personally would think it mainly depends on the host. It is possible to get good quality hosting service at an affordable price.
When choosing a host, you must do your homework on the host and ask a lot of questions! For example, find out if they're registered business, on a reputable network/datacenter, email ask them pre-sales questions and find reliable reviews on them.

To me, both $3.99 and $10 hosting is considered cheap and affordable.
Generally, I think sub $15 is the norm for cheap/affordable hosting while $15+ is premium level hosting. Of course, service levels differ and pricepoints are just a generalization... sometimes you may pay cheap prices and still get premium services.

I'd say cheap would be the hosting plans under $3 and affordable probably from $3-10 for shared hosts, depending on your hosting needs. Advertising with the term cheap, affordable, professional, etc makes absolutely no difference to me because I don't consider claims to be a valid factor when researching hosts.
In fact, i'm pretty sure a handful of the "affordable" hosts I see on WHT are on par if not better than the "professional" ones.
