How long does it take for you to set up a server? I currently have a server with another company with the following configuration:

    Core Intel Core2Quad Q9650
    RAM 8gb DDR2
    Disk Controller None
    Hard Drive 1TB SATA2
    Second Hard Drive None
    Uplink Port Speed 1000mbps
    Bandwidth 10000gb
    Operating System CentOS 5.3 - 64 bit
    Database Software MySQL 5
IP Addresses 8 IPs (5 Usable)
    Backup (NAS) None
    KVM Over IP None
    Support Level Standard Support
    Control Panel cPanel/WHM v11

They have told me that apache could not handle the amount of traffic my site is generating. Is this going to be a problem with you?

    Hi,

If apache is the problem and not the bandwidth you will probably need to optimize it. At 8GB of ram you should be able to saturate a 100Mbit port, but again its hard to say depending on what resources and the type of contents you are serving up. What does your admin say are the hardware bottlenecks as you definitely dont want to downgrade those.

I don't know if it was a typo or not, but it was actually a 1000mb port. Basically what was happening is that it would litteraly take 3 minutes for a web page to load. I'm new to the dedicated scene(although learning quickly). Not sure about the hardware bottlenecks.

What was your bandwidth peaks during that time and how many apache processes were running? Were you out of ram and hitting swap?

I would look at your apache configuration and disk io. Without having access to the server its hard to really know.
