Question Who is using Centova Cast ?

We do shoutcast hosting on dedicated servers, and
right now Im using Cast-Control as the Admin/Client control panel.

Well, its past 2 years and decided to have a better look at
Centova Cast as it looks more professional and better for my needs.

Anyway, I can install a 14 days trial, but I would like some help
about these issues from someone using Centova Cast:

1 - Since I already have sc_server installed in our servers, can I bypass that
during Centova-Cast installation? And should I expect any problems
running both control panels at same time (Cast-Control and Centova trial) ?

2 - Of course both have their own directory, in case we decided to go for Centova,
whats the best way to migrate all the clients accounts and streams ?
I wonder if I can just create the same accounts and then just turn off the stream
in Cast-Control when its not broadcasting and turn it on in Centova.
Its kind of a manual way, but I dont see any other smooth way to do it!

Any help would be great , to light me up on this.

    Thanks!

WHMSONIC is more popular that Centova as its a Plugin for cPanel.
Centova is a Specialised Panel for it.
So yes Centova is a preferred option if you just shoutcast hosting.

Please donīt reply talking about WHMSONIC ...
I know it, its just crap, not professional, but what to expect
for a control panel that costs you $30 a year?

And thats not even relate to the topic anyway,
so please I expect replies from only Centova users
    about these specific issues.

    Thank you.

We use Centova Cast, and we tend to like it, although our opinion may be a bit biased.

Since I already have sc_server installed in our servers, can I bypass that during Centova-Cast installation?
You could, but then you'd need to manually set the path to your existing sc_serv binary. Given that the sc_serv binary is only a few hundred KB in size it's probably easier to just let Centova Cast install its own copy. It won't interfere with any other copies you have.

And should I expect any problems running both control panels at same time (Cast-Control and Centova trial) ?
Nope, many of our clients do this as they like to give their customers a choice between Centova Cast or various competitors' products. As long as you're sure to use a different port range in each product (to avoid ShoutCast port conflicts), you should have no problems running them side-by-side.

Of course both have their own directory, in case we decided to go for Centova, whats the best way to migrate all the clients accounts and streams ?
That's a trickier question. We do have a migration utility but in all honesty it's largely experimental, and was only tested against an older version of Cast-Control which is likely fairly outdated by now. If you'd like to try it anyway, you can find it (after installing Centova Cast) in:
    /home/centovacast/scripts/import_castcontrol.sh

I wonder if I can just create the same accounts and then just turn off the stream in Cast-Control when its not broadcasting and turn it on in Centova.
Yes, that'll work fine. Just set up the streams identically in Centova Cast (and using the same port numbers) and then stop them in the old product, start them in Centova Cast, and you'll be on your way.

    HTH!
