Question Seeking help with Server's Host name

    Hello everyone at Webhostingtalk!

Hope your weekend is going good. I hope you can help me with my issue. I am trying to set up the WebHostManager for CPanel(CentOS -VDS)and there is a section where it ask for "This Server's Host name"

Using SSH (PuTTy), I've logged in and type the following recommended by

    edit /etc/resolv.conf

I am in need of your guidance. What should I do from here in order to create my "Server's Host name"?

    Thanks in advance.

(PS- I've registered for my domain name at last week)

The server's hostname is It can be whatever you like but usually you would choose something like "".
You can run the "hostname" command while you're logged in via SSH to get the current hostname which you would probably then want to use (assuming it's a FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) -

You don't have to worry about the DNS, WHM will take care of everything related to that.

    Yes that's true...
hostname is nothing but what you call your server.... you can name it anything you like... most of the people planning to add more servers in future to there network name it as but if you plan not to install any further servers then you can name it as

    Or anything you would like..
