How do I install mod_ssl for apache 2?
I compiled a fresh install of httpd on a new linux box, added a virtual hosts entry for an https site, but when I try to start apache I get the error:
Is this because I don't have mod_ssl compiled in?
Invalid command 'SSLEngine', perhaps misspelled or defined by a
module not included in the server configuration
And if so how would I go about install that?
Yes it is because mod_ssl is not included .. What is the OS ? Does it has any Control Panel ? If you are sure mod_ssl was not included
If you have yum configured do
yum search mod_ssl and then
yum install mod_ssl
and restart httpd ..
It seem either of two things.
You might have missed to load the mod_ssl module in the httpd.conf file, (which can be highly unlikely).
The second thing might be that you have not defined in the mod_ssl.c correctly in the configuration file (ssl.conf or httpd.conf).
You need to define it correctly using the corrct brackets n all. The following is what I am talking about:
<IfDefine SSL> or <IfModule mod_ssl.c>
