it's pretty safe although the buyer and seller protections are not usually there. And I've found its harder to win disputes as a host. But they still bring in the most income out of all the processors that we use.

You just have to be a bit careful and having a fraud protection service doesn't hurt either

Over 150 million accounts consisting companies, individuals, freelancers etc. from all around the world.
Huge number in online transaction business, and they are doing pretty good job if you ask me.
So yes, PayPal is safe. But as said above, using a 3rd party fraud-system might be a good idea.

Let me put it this way, PayPal is great, for legal business ventures.

When you do ANYTHING, ANYTHING sketchy/illegal/pushing the line, that's when PayPal becomes a bad solution.
Not sure what to put here :-P

PayPal is probably the most respected online payment processor there is, so it's definitely safe and secure

Support paypal if you want to but don't support paypal only. Make sure you have a real credit card processor that supports all countries. A company like 2co or google checkout.

With regards to the original question. I have never had a problem with PayPal, nor any complaints.

I have used them for years. I think people the become to love it. And I wouldn't believe anything about it not being secure.

Neither of those are "real" credit card processors, so I'd recommend staying away from 2co.com most definitely.

Google Checkout is the next best runner up compared to PayPal.

Paypal is one of the most reliable and secure payment solutions. They are also very seller friendly

Google Checkout would be the next best thing, but if you don't offer Paypal you are really missing on a big chunk of the market.
