Not to detract you from Hostgator, I know that they're great, but when making the comparison you should make sure that you take into account the fact that HG doesn't allow overselling on its reseller accounts, which effectively makes them a bit more expensive than providers that do.
India is a big country in terms of population, I would think every established host has a client from India here and there (although there are some exceptions where hosts don't allow certain countries to sign up) - and Hostgator is a good company to start with since they don't oversell their reseller packages but as Dan said, they also don't allow you to oversell which limits you to how much space you can promise others.

I totally agree with you.
MNEC, a hosting provider in India may give you the benefit of local support but make sure you sign up with a reputable provider.
Check if reseller package supports overselling feature, which usually has less disk space & quota resource because the quota is actual usage.

I would sugest going with a smaller company. The reason why is that at hostgator i feel like im just a customer and they dont care about me.

deathbypie I'm really sorry that you feel this way. We care greatly about all of our customers! I'm the owner of hostgator and I care so much that I'm personally available to every single one of our 200,000 customers. I hope you don't mind but I'm sending you a pm now to see if I can assist you.
MNEC I will suggest, first decide how much resources you need, do you really need tons of space and traffic. As you said you are hosting moderate sites, so sit down and calculate how much resources you actually need and then search for a suitable host.
About overselling/allotted space/actual usage, if overselling is enabled you can sell more than what you have been allotted and your account will be monitored for actual usage, if overselling is disabled, your account will be monitored for allotted space. So say you have a 10 Gb account and you created 1 Gb plan, with overselling disabled you can sell only 10 such accounts but if overselling is enabled you can sell more than 10 accounts as your actual usage will be monitored not what you have allotted in total.
HostGator, like many other hosts, has a money back guarantee. You really won't be risking anything giving them a try. You could publish a couple sites, test their support and connectivity, and see if they fit your needs before migrating all your sites.
