VPN

Hi all,

I've got a requirement to set up a VPN for fifty users, each with a unique IP. Before I approach a hosting provider for a VPS, I've a couple of questions for the experts here.

1. What specs of VPS am I looking at?

2. Is it possible to configure the VPS such that all the VPN users have unique IP?

3. How do i find a hosting provider who can provide me with IPs from a specific country? and if possible, provision for another set of unique IP periodically, say, weekly/monthly?

Thanks for sharing.

No one will do this for you except maybe RBN, lol

One has to wonder what sort of activity would require such a high turnover of ip's.

This is generally true.

Otherwise running a VPN from a VPS works fine on most any specs (those 50 users actual usage is what will really determine how intensive the system requirements need to be).

Minimal specs to run the VPN (assuming OPENVPN) but it really depends on how many users you'll have at the same time. I would research your VPN script and see what resources each session will use up and then use that as a basic guide in determinining the specs.

As for getting 50 IP's to a VPS that can be problematic, most hosts that I know about will not give that many IP's to a VPS.

Next you have to justify your use of those IP addys.

Finally I don't know of anyone that will swap out your IP's on an ongoing basis for any reason. I agree the only reasons I can think of that you would want to do this would be resons why I would not offer you service.

Granted it does sound somewhat iffy, but there are a couple of reasons that come to mind almost immediately. The first being WoW gold miners that need IP's to run their bots. Sure, it's not exactly on par with WoW user agreement, but it's not illegal. The other possibility that his users could be using it for would for surfing adult sites that log IP's. Again, nothing illegal about that at all.

@Timeless

Sure maybe technically not illegal but not justifications that any host that I've had experience with would accept.
