Finding a web host that suits your business

Looking for a suitable host for your business solely rest on you. You alone know what you want to achieve with your website so you must choose a host provider whose services sync with your proposed website. For example if you want to run e-commerce on your site you should go for web hosts that specialise in this aspect. Don't just for a so-called reputable host simply because of someone else's experience with them. The fact that they are having a jolly good ride with them does not mean your story will be the same.

If it would be so, top hosts sites (like the one you own), reviews sites, and hosting forums would be worthless.

No, it's not a certitude, but customers' experiences are a decent guide overall.

Typically, "e-commerce hosting" is just a fancy words for a couple of extra features. One can run an e-commerce site on just about any modern hosting package.

You mean small e-commerce websites.

"E-commerce plans" as Dan stated are just shared hosting plans that tend to include some free advertising credits or a free SSL or something similar - realistically they're just shared plans on shared servers like every other plan.

It's just marketing.

Just imagine running a site like best buy on one of these cheap host sites. I'm not disputing the fact that most web host providers can offer e-commerce solutions, my point is that there are e-commerce specific websites out there.

None of which would be appropriate for a best-buy level of site. That requires a cluster of servers with specialized purposes such as a few for serving HTTP, a few for databases, etc...

You are comparing apples to oranges.
