Liquidweb - Migraiton FAIL
I am only writing this post here because I used webhosting talk to research my recent purchase of a dedicated server with liquidweb.
I have been a happy liquidweb VPS customer for the last year and have grown my business with them. Last week I decided to upgrade from a VPS to a dedicated server and that is where things went wrong.
Stefan in sales was nice in taking my order and had my new server setup in very little time. I got an email that everything had been migrated and they would do the cut over Friday morning.
Friday morning I awoke to phone calls from my clients saying they were not getting emails, their site was down, etc.
I do some initial research and find out that liquidweb sold me a new dedicated server with old used dirty ip addressees that were blocked by ATT / sbcglobal / pacbell. To compound this problem a week later and three ip changes all of which were blocked I am still being blocked and on their blacklist. See below for list of other problems.
I was transferred to Bret my account manager who has done nothing for me and hung up on me through web today while pleading with him to get someone to help me.
I can only talk to a support supervisor and no one will let me talk to a real manager. I went on vacation to Boston this week and have been dealing with these issues the entire time.
I feel like I have been pawned off and shuffled around from person to person and can not get my issues resolved.
And to throw salt on the wound they billed $209 for a $159 server and then charged me a seperate $10 for 2 days from last month. Stefan assured me this transfer would be done at the end of the month so there would be no additional charges. Another lie.
Below is the short list of all the issues I have had with liquid web over that last since my migration.
- Mysql databases were copied over
- Email forwarders were not copied over
- Email was being blocked by ATT/SBC/Pacbell
- SPF records were not copied over
- A records were not copied over
- They sold me a new server with old drity blacklisted ip addresses.
- After three sets of ip addresses I am still being blocked.
- I was billed for both my old VPS and my new server when stefan the sales agent told me it would be a seamless migration and I would be billed for the server starting next month.
- Can never talk to the same person twice. Have talked to about 20 people total over the talk week no one will take responsibility to get my issues resolved.
Can anyone recommend a fully managed dedicated server that will handle my migration with care and take responsibility when issues arise.
Thanks in advance for your recommendations.Last edited by inteloc; 10-08-2009 at 10:33 PM.

Sorry to hear about your experience. :-/
If you end up needing outside help, Steve at Rack911 is quite good. I do not know if he specifically offers managed servers, but he does do quite a bit of managed services work for clients with outside providers.

I'm sorry to hear this. In fact, it has been first time that I've heard such a story about Liquid Web.
Can anyone recommend a fully managed dedicated server that will handle my migration with care and take responsibility when issues arise.██ SoftSys Hosting ██ - 14 Years In Business - 24/7 In-House Support - Enterprise Class Replicated Cloud Servers For HA

Thanks SoftsysHosting-Rick,
Unfortunately the problem is that it has been a week of me asking to talk to a manager and they will not let me talk to one. I can not get one to call me either.

It's already mentioned above that the account manager was brought in to help out but in vain. Anyway, this is unfortunate. I certainly feel your pain especially that it ruined your time off. Hopefully, LW will read this post and make this right.
Inteloc, only LW can help with the IP blacklist issue but all other issues can be corrected quickly. Feel free to get in touch if you need a hand with anything.

Mistakes happen and no provider is perfect. I have seen Liquidweb very helpful to WHT posters int he past and I don't think this case will be any different.

Doesn't LiquidWeb have an employee that posts here, Travis?
Yep and he's 6 years younger than I am, whoa!

I'm sure Liquid Web didn't mean to make a huge mistake, usually they're top notch with things so its a bit unfortunate that a mistake happened the way it did.. I'd say give a PM to Travis and see if he can help, that might help you out a lot.
Nothing here right now.

Liquid web sucks
This is the latest email I got from liquid web this morning. Which really shows how bad they are right now.
They can't find my info? I have the same tickets open for week.
Were too busy. They have been working on this problem for over a week now.
I think this is the last straw for me. Looking for a new dedicated server.

Woo,calmn man.You see what,Travis is just above you there. Why not give the ticket number to him and just have the problems sorted out?
I am sure you can have a satisfied reason why it became these mess as they are with good reputation.
Or,umm, softlayer was said to be a nice option.

Liquidweb moved my server to a new vlan last night. A ton of new problems with this move.
My server can't send email outside the server. That move to a new vlan was screwed up.
After the move to a new vlan ...
I AM STILL GETTING BLOCKED BY ATT!!!!!
my 5th set of ip addresses from liquidweb still are blocked by ATT

Depending on the nature of the block, AT&T can be a pain to deal with in cases like this.

I'm surprised. I migrated from LW's VPS to Dedicated and they did everything for me.
I'm quite happy with them.

I'm very surprised to read of your problems. I've been with Liquid Web for over two years and have been very satisfied with their services.
