Arrow Need help for deciding dedicated server

    Hi,

I have 2 dedicated servers at this moment, but I have seen somewhere else a better server and I was thinking on getting it. But I was wondering, if I was able to combine the 2 servers that I have at this moment, in exchange for this one server. I want to reduce the costs and it looks like this one is much better. Can somebody advise on this pls, but I don;t want to give in on performance.

On my servers I have 50 websites ( some several big vbulletin forums, rest html. ), shoutcast radio 300 listeners, and irc server for around 500 users ). I was wondering, if this server below was able to handle this and even more.. ? What is someone is doing a ddos, how would that effect the whole thing ? btw, my panel is plesk )

    Thanks.

    My currect dedicated servers ( 2x )

    AMD Opteron 1352,
    QuadCore 64 Bit, 4x 2.1 GHz
    4.096 MB DDR2-RAM
    2x 500 GB SATA-HDD

Want to switch to this dedicated server:

    Intel® Core™ i7-920 Quad-Core
    12 GB DDR3 RAM
    2 x 1500 GB SATA-II HDD (Software-RAID 1)
    1 GBit OnBoard

Would I give in on performance, or would this 1 server handle all and even better ? Thanks.

    what are you talking about?
One Core i7 replaced two Xeon machines for one of our clients.
    it all depends on configuration.

Based on which configuration ? Can you give some details on it.. ? And do you think this 1 machine is able to handle it.. ?

    Hi,

Can you also give more details on why it would perform better.. ? Why nobody is giving some tech details.. Like the connection would give some problems, or the server itself will respond slower due to many users on 1 server.. ? Or any other tech thingy

    Thanks.

Heh, it's not giving or not giveing tech info, its more about not knowing your sites / usage exactly, also not knowing your settings tweaks and generally not haveing root access to your server :-) no one can fix something he cannot see...
unless you are a doctor ;-)

    Hehehe... Nice )))

What information would you like to know or see ? I gave some info on the type of websites, irc and shoutcast that I have on the servers.

I actualy heard the new i7 processors are very fast and almost 5x times better then the previous versions. Especially with vbulletin forums... Actually my main concern would not be the server it self, I think the connection would be the main concern, but that is what I think and therefore wanted to ask here.

But if you specify what info you want to see, I can give it here . Please advise and thanks.

    Best regards,
