Angry What name servers do I use with my virtual dedicated server on godaddy?

    Hello everyone,

What name servers do I use with my virtual dedicated server on godaddy ? i talked to them on live chat and they replied to read this page http://help.godaddy.com/topic/210/article/650

I followed the steps but when i login to control panel at godaddy it doesnt show links which are said in the above topic.

My domain is registered at yahoo domains and i purchased virtual dedicate server hosting at godaddy.

You need to enter the nameservers at yahoo. Instructions clearly state:

If your domain name is registered with another company, you will need to contact them for instructions regarding domain host registration.

If I were you. I would transfer the domain to current host -- it will make your life more automated

Use the nameservers mentioned in your welcome/setup email. It will be somethng like:

    NS51.DOMAINCONTROL.COM
    NS52.DOMAINCONTROL.COM

Ultima is right. I was confused about where you were in the process. Create your ns1 and ns2 first, then register them at yahoo.

Again, if you transfer your domain to your host things will be a bit easier.

    Transformer -

Have you created your own nameservers in Plesk yet? For example

    ns1.yourdomain.com
    ns2.yourdomain.com

After they are created, go to Yahoo and register their names according to these instructions:

    http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/sma...ceddns-18.html

After that is complete, you can change nameservers at Yahoo's domain manager to your new ones. Your vps will then be hosting your dns services and managed by plesk.

Sorry if I confused you. The help file is a little confusing because in Step 2 they are calling nameservers "domain hosts." Is this making sense now?

You can't manage anything until you get your NS straightened out, no matter where you host your site
