Are you sure it isn't some kids messing around, as it is easy to use fake emails like that, I have never been spammed from Microsoft.

They probably spoofed the headers. Why would Microsoft send spam? Think about it, not exactly in their business model.

What is more irritating is when people spoof their spams to match your domain name, and people then complain to you that "you are spamming, and they're going to call the cop.

    *sigh*

Had that happen a few years ago, very irritating. Have had people spoof my CELL PHONE using VoIP before. That was even worse, getting calls asking me why I was trying to sell them insurance, etc.

Wow, that would be horrible. I would definitely try to track down the offender, if it is at all possible.

I am about 99.99% positive that that message did come from Microsoft. Maybe someone signed up for newsletter using your email address.

    Received: from delivery.pens.microsoft.com ([207.46.248.69])
Only way to spoof this would be to control server which received email or the first router that server is connected to or microsoft's name server.

The message headers are almost identical to headers of other microsoft's mailings (I compared it with last couple MS partner newsletters I got).

Well it is not a spoofed mail, it is from Microsoft.

I am sure because, it contains the main image from http://somexyz.someabc.microsoft.com also message in that image matches the subject of the mail.

Also in the footer it contains un-subscribe link that actually takes you to http://co1piltwb.partners.extranet.m...?withvariables

Now, if someone used my never publicly used email ID to subscribe, I should I have got a verification/confirmation/optin mail in the first place.
