Phenom II 955 vs Q9550
I'm going in for a new build and I can't decide between the Intel Q9550 and the AMD Phenom II X4 955.
Now, the Phenom is rated as good as and even better in some cases than the Intel but the Q9550 has more cache I think.
However, the Phenom costs $189 vs the $219 for the Q9550.
If you can help, that'd be great.
Most of the active sites on my servers are forums btw, if that helps.
What is this going to be used for? Host? Games? Personal?
Host, I'd go intel!
Games, I'd go AMD!
Personal I'd go AMD!

I would go for the Intel, simply because that's the only brand we use
» www.InstantDedicated.com - Online in no time
» Dedicated Servers in [EU] Netherlands with DAILY support, also on weekends
» DDOS Protected network - 100% Money Back if it doesn't work for you
» Streaming / IPTV allowed | Up to 10 Gbit ports | 100% Network Uptime
Oh also, you will find that more customers for hosting or for gaming tend to rent from a server that has Intel. It's really pricey but it does a lot of damage!

It's being used for hosting my personal sites, majority of which are forums
I think you'll find the performance will be around the same. I'll go the AMD.
Personally I trust Intel. I say go for the slightly higher Q9550 it runs at a lower clock speed and out preforms the AMD.
I'm currently using a Q6600 in my desktop at 3.0 GHz (=
Intel Xenon X3230 in my server Quad Core 2.66 GHz (=
I actually decided to go for the Core i5 750 Lynnfield.
