Hi people i just started selling shared web hosting plans via reseller account and currently my clients are placing orders through my WHMCS portal. I am planning for a professional website with limited budget that will obviously include WHMCS integration. I just need to know is it a good idea to just use WHMCS portal with customization or is it necessary to have a professional website.
And how professional can WHMCS portal look after customization.
It depends on what you want the website used for. I have a corporate website with the products on and some information about the company. I also use the website to promote new offers (big POS images etc on homepages).
I've integrated WHMCS into the website so that it looks the same when clients log in, order etc.
At the end of the day, it's up to you
I personally would go for a corporate website & then integrate WHMCS in your design.
Thanks for sharing your views. Yes I am also interested in a corporate kinda website like other web hosting services have and need to put company profile and necessary site contents. I just tried your website for an example but it has not launched yet
I personally think using just the WHMCS portal wouldn't cut it.
You want your visitors to be able to find out why they should choose you as their host! You need pages that tell your visitors about you as a company, why they should host with you, what your support policy is like etc etc.
It's hard to be exact about what you need exactly, but being confined to the options with WHMCS doesn't allow you any flexibility at all.
Whether or not you can add additional pages within the "portal" i'm not sure, but i think integrating WHMCS into your site rather than the other way round gives a much more professional image.
While you can create pages in WHMCS ,I think that you will definitely want to have a full website. As others have mentioned, you need space to talk about your company, support, etc. It will also be helpful for prospective customers to be able to see a full breakdown of your plans, all of their features, etc. It is what most people have come to expect from a web host's page and I think just sticking with WHMCS looks unprofessional.
You should get your website created fully as its own functioning website. Then, rather than using any WHMCS default templates, you should pay to have your WHMCS integrated with your layout - so that they are separate but appear the same to the user. For a more simple user, they might think they've been transferred to a completely different website when they click order (if your WHMCS template is different) - which would loose business.
Although the idea of just developing a completely new template and basing your entire site around your WHMCS portal, I would still suggest having a main website and a WHMCS portal separately - but both using the same layout/template.
It's quite easy to get a web site design from a web site like themeforest.com; it would cost you about $25. You could then use LicensePal's (or somebody else's, but I have experience with LicensePal and they are fantastic) WHMCS integration service for $25 to have the design applied to WHMCS. Only thing you'll have to do is create content for your web site aside from WHMCS'.
